A group from the Georgia Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers went on a walking tour of downtown Atlanta, led by Tom Leslie, to see the historic remnants of the earliest civil engineering achievements in Atlanta. May 5, 2012.
GA ASCE recently joined as a Partner in Education (PIE) with Marietta Center for Advanced Academics (MCAA), who is our first Georgia STEM-Certified (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) school. Georgia ASCE was there at the ceremony on March 8th, honoring the STEM recognition!
On May 4, 2012, at the May Section Meeting, Georgia ASCE recognized the winners of their "What do Civil Engineers do?" Middle School Competition. Winning Submissions ranged from Essays and Presentations to bridge models and videos.

ASCE Georgia Section, a STEM Partner with the Marietta Center for Academic Achievement, participated in their Engineering Challenge last night. The challenge was to assemble a ?slow coaster? made only of paper, tape, foil, felt, and a few other simple items. The purpose was to produce the slowest transit a marble from the top of the coaster (chair back) to the bottom.MCAA believes that parent involvement is vital to furthering student learning. The pictures clearly show that MCAA is fostering parent involvement.
